Bensignor Strategies

Rick provides timely and actionable advice and specific investment recommendations across multi-asset classes and time frames to corporate clients, and has an outstanding reputation for discovering early where the “pain” trade is; where key bullish and bearish structural levels are found for a security; and where previous buyers turn into sellers and sellers into buyers – all usually well before these are obvious to the Street. He works closely with portfolio managers and trading desks, helping them better implement profit-making strategies around core holdings, and increases overall portfolio returns by improving both short- and longterm entry and exit points.

Rick is currently the founder and CEO of Bensignor Strategies, LLC, a financial markets consulting firm, and was previously the Head of Cross-Asset Trading Strategy at Wells Fargo Securities. Prior to that, he was Chief of Behavioral Market Strategy and a salesman at Dahlman Rose & Co. and spent 10 years at Morgan Stanley, most as the Chief Market Strategist for Morgan Stanley Principal Strategies (Buy-Side) and the Equity Research Department (Sell-Side) and as the senior salesperson on the Institutional Commodity Futures Sales Desk. Before that, Rick served as Head of Futures, Commodities, and Technical Analysis sales and product development at Bloomberg, LP, after having spent 12 years trading as a floor broker and independent trader on the New York Futures Exchange, COMEX, and the Coffee, Sugar, and Cocoa Exchange.

Rick has been an adjunct instructor at New York University, where he was the first to write and teach the core course on Behavioral Finance Theory for the School of Professional Studies; he also taught its very popular course on trading and the use of technical analysis. His book, New Thinking in Technical Analysis: Trading Models from the Masters was published in 2000, and he wrote the chapter on Futures for the Investor’s Business Daily Guide to the Markets. He appears regularly on CNBC and Bloomberg TV, is frequently quoted in the Wall Street Journal, Bloomberg News, Dow Jones Newswires,, and Reuters, and is often a featured panelist at major market-related conferences.

He earned his B.S. in Business Administration from the University at Albany. Rick lives with his family in New York.
